Naldo: Props to our fans

Despite the loss in Munich, Schalke’s travelling fans cheered on the team from start to finish. “The fans saw our fight and respected that,” said Naldo. “Sadly, our efforts went unrewarded. We’d have liked to have got a positive result to make them happy.”

The Brazilian emphasised the fact that he and his teammates very much value the great backing the team get from the stands. “Props to the fans. They always get behind us,” said the defender. “It was a special 90 minutes. Although our fans were outnumbered in the stadium, we could only hear the Schalke fans cheering us on. It’s an amazing feeling to know you’re not alone on away days.”

The fans saw how hard we fought.

Naldo

Naldo stated that the Knappen have to take positives from the loss in the Allianz Arena. “We put in a strong performance in Munich and had no fear of Bayern. It was an eye-catching battle and we deserved a point,” said the 35-year-old. “If we play like that in the coming games, we’ll be fine.”

To do that, it’s key that the time eradicate the mistakes they made in recent home games against Hannover and Bremen. “We know that,” affirmed Naldo. “We want to do better against Hoffenheim so the fans can celebrate a win in the VELTINS Arena once again!”

Matchday 23 didn’t quite go to plan for the Royal Blues. Right-back Jonjoe Kenny was deeply impressed: "The response from the fans was incredible."
