Ralf Fährmann: We are all in the same boat
After a strong showing in the 4-0 win over Hoffenheim, Ralf Fährmann impressed again in Frankfurt on Sunday (17/01). Despite some good saves, the goalkeeper couldn’t prevent the Royal Blues from falling to a 3-1 defeat. “Frankfurt were the better team, so they deserved to win,” said the 32-year-old.
“The commitment was right from us”, said the ‘keeper, who held firm on several occasions to deny a strong Eintracht attacking line. Despite the saves Fährmann, who wore Eintracht colours between 2009 and 2011, still had to pick the ball out of the net three times against his former team.
The commitment was right from us.
“Our opponents played really well, especially on the counter-attack. We could have been a bit cleverer in certain situations. Football is a game of mistakes, though, and unfortunately the mistakes were a part of it. I don’t want to single anybody out, though. We are all in the same boat. We are a team,” says Fährmann.
Full focus on Köln
It’s now important to shake the defeat off quickly with another match coming up on Wednesday (20/01, 18:30 CET) at home to 1. FC Köln. The clash with the cathedral city side is “really, really important,” says Fährmann.
The shot-stopper is convinced that his team can get a good result against the side ranked 16th in the table. “I give it my all everyday, and the same goes for my teammates,” he says. “I hope that we get our reward for that as soon as possible and take three points against Köln.”
