Ralf Fährmann: A great day for the whole club

After the deserved and well-celebrated 2-0 win in the derby, Domenico Tedesco and Peter Stöger react to the afternoon’s action.

Ralf Fährmann:

We’re all absolutely delighted and are happy to gift a win to our fans. Everyone associated with the club can enjoy tonight. We know that on our day we can beat anyone. We went into the game with this attitude. The 2-0 win was fully deserved. We hardly gave Dortmund a sniff. It’s a great feeling to have finally won a derby again. I still remember the last one as it was my birthday. I have to praise the head coach. What he’s done to the team is exceptional. I encouraged him to go into the stands even if he didn’t want to as he didn’t want to be the centre of attention. The fans were great with him and he was great with them.

Naldo:

I’m as happy as a small child! The win was highly deserved. We played to our limit for 90 minutes. Every single one of us were superb. We know what this win means to the club. The fans were phenomenal once again and kept us going for the 90 minutes. It’s a great feeling. I’m happy to score my first free-kick of the season, especially when it contributed to this win. After the loss to HSV, we bounced back. Now, we have to do the same on Wednesday so we can be in the DFB-Pokal final in May.

Christian Heidel:

It was a great performance from the team. We didn’t only fight hard but were better technically and tactically than the opposition. Therefore, we deserved to win. I must admit I was nervous before kick-off. However, after the first five minutes,  I calmed down as the team were played very well. We dominated for large parts of the game. Sure, BVB had their moments but we stayed firm. Then Naldo’s free-kick gave us more impetus. I’m delighted.
