Ralf Fährmann: I picked my corner and stuck with it

One saved a penalty and the other forced Robin Knoche into an own goal. schalke04.de spoke to Ralf Fährmann and Breel Embolo on the win in Wolfsburg.

Ralf Fährmann:

As I saved the penalty, I was the centre of attention but it was a team effort. We work with goalkeeping coach, Simon Henzler, and the other goalkeepers, Alexander Nübel and Michael Langer, on penalties. Before the game, we studied videos as I’m delighted to have saved the penalty. You could say I knew where he was going to go. We dominated the game even though it wasn’t a spectacle. Then, we took our chance clinically. Breel made a big difference when he came on and gave us momentum. He played a big point in the win. We’re happy about the win but we know there’s a while to go yet. We’re enjoying the moment, playing to our max and want to make second place ours.

Breel Embolo:

I feel good and had a good week in training. I think you can see that I’m full of confidence. I came on and had one or two chances. For this goal, I actually wanted to drive the ball into the area, Thankfully, Robin Knoche did the rest for us However, I think Ralf Fährmann was the real match-winner. He saved a very good penalty. We’re having a good season and need luck at times. I think we’ve made our own luck. Sometimes, it’s not always the prettiest but we work hard and will keep doing so.
