S04 want to end an average half to the season with a win

Schalke’s footballing year of 2018 will end on Saturday (22/12, 15:30 CET) with an away game in Stuttgart. Two sides, who are both unhappy with their seasons so far, come up against each other. Domenico Tedesco is desperate for a win: “We want to go into the winter break with a win”, underlined the head coach.

The head coach has a clear aim for the upcoming match: “We have to better our performance against Leverkusen. If we do that, then we should win the game.” It’s no secret that a win against Stuttgart would do the side the world of good after an average first half to the season.

VfB in a similar situation

According to Tedesco, Stuttgart are in a similar situation to S04. They are currently one point behind Schalke and sit in the relegation play-off position. “They are in the same boat as us,” commented Tedesco, who has studied their tactics before the game. “Stuttgart have some quick strikers, play it long quite a lot and look to win lots of second balls. Another strength they possess is that they never give up, even if games look like they are already over.

Domenico Tedesco will not have Amine Harit available for the game in the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. The Moroccan international suffered a muscle strain against Leverkusen. “Apart from Amine, we have the same players available to us as we did on Wednesday.”
