Six goal contributions in five competitive matches for Tobias Mohr

Tobias Mohr played a decisive role in the 3-1 victory on Saturday against Bochum. The winger’s 73rd minute free-kick led to his sides’ second goal of the evening – an own goal from Erhan Masovic – before he found Sebastian Polter in added time, who duly converted the chance with his head. The game saw the new arrival from Heidenheim record his fifth and sixth direct goal involvements of the season so far.

The 27-year-old provided three assists on his competitive debut, a 5-0 DFB-Pokal win against Bremer SV. He continued to prove he knew how to find a teammate in the first home game of the season when he set up Rodrigo Zalazar: “I’m always happy when I can help the team,” the winger said. “Of course, being directly involved in two goals gives another confidence boost,” he added, whose crosses and set pieces caused serious issues for Bochum.

Mohr had briefly hoped that he would be credited for the goal that made it 2-1, but it ultimately went down as an own goal, meaning the attacker is still waiting on his first in the Bundesliga. But that’s not a bother to him, commenting: “It’s not important whether it’s me who scores, or someone else. What is important is that the team are successful.”

The atmosphere during the game against the local rivals, and even more so after the final whistle, was outstanding. “It was an unbelievable backdrop, and it pushed the team. It gives us a lot of energy. That’s why we were happy to give the fans their first win in our sixth league game,” Mohr reported.

Looking forward to the derby

The attacker now has his sights set on Saturday’s trip to Borussia Dortmund (15:30 CEST). Mohr commented: “Of course we want to make our fans happy in this game as well.”
