Frank Kramer: A disciplined and committed performance

FC Schalke 04 drew 1-1 away to VfB Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon (3/9). The Royal Blues were happy to take a point, though they will be frustrated not to have won the game after late chances. schalke04.de has summarised the most important quotes from both coaches and Dominick Drexler.

Frank Kramer

Frank Kramer:

We put in a committed performance and that’s what we needed. We were slightly unfortunate to go behind after an individual mistake. My team showed a great reaction and got us back on track right away. It was a disciplined and good display overall. We had three good chances in the last 15 to 20 minutes and could have taken more from the game with them. We played better today and showed that we had put last week’s game behind us. We were a real unit on the pitch. We had control of the game in the last 20 minutes. Having an extra man can be dangerous if you relax too much and let them hit you on the break. We waited patiently for our chances and unfortunately didn’t take them. We’ll take the point.

Pellegrino Matarazzo:

We started decently and did well enough once we went down to ten men. The rest of the game wasn’t good enough by us. It was our first bad performance of the season. We can be more than happy that we got a draw out of it.

Dominick Drexler:

We played well and can take more positives than negatives from today. However, considering that we had a man advantage and good chances at the end, and the fact that we were the better team across the whole 90 minutes in my opinion, the result is disappointing. The process is the most important thing. We have to keep getting better and keep creating more chances. Today’s match was therefore a step in the right direction. It was a great feeling to set up Simon’s first goal of the season. It almost comes naturally when you’ve played together for four years now. The assist will also help to give me some confidence.
