Thilo Kehrer: An unbelievable feeling
After celebrating out on the pitch, we spoke to Thilo Kehrer and Christian Heidel to look back at the 90 minutes which confirmed Schalke’s spot in next season’s Champions League.
Thilo Kehrer:
I’m ecstatic. Even though I was involved in both goals, I don’t see myself as the match winner. It was a brilliant team performance. We’ve worked hard as a team for the whole season. Knowing we’ll finish second and be in next season’s Champions League is an amazing feeling. It’s one we’ve deserved. We’ve given our all every day to improve. I’m especially happy for the fans. They deserve this.
Christian Heidel:
The atmosphere in the dressing room is amazing. I think you can feel that out on the pitch. We’ve grown together over the course of the season. Finishing second is a great achievement. It feels almost like a title as winning the league isn’t possible in the Bundesliga at the moment. I want to thank the team. Domenico Tedesco has had a big part to play in this success story. He’s exceeded all expectations.
