Tim Skarke wins Goal of the Month for April with curling strike

Two months after Marius Bülter, another Schalker has scored a Goal of the Month: Tim Skarke’s beautiful curling effort, the opener in the 5-2 win at home to Hertha BSC, earned over 70,000 votes.

Barely three minutes were on the clock as Skarke evaded multiple Hertha defenders with fantastic dribbling, before curling an effort from the edge of the penalty area. The ball pinged off the crossbar and into the far corner, sending the home side into an early lead.

The wonderful strike gave the 26-year-old victory in the Goal of the Month vote on ARD’s Sportschau programme, beating out other nominees Matthijs de Ligt (FC Bayern München), Ahmet Arslan (Dynamo Dresden), Ludovic Ajorque (FSV Mainz 05) and Lion Schweers (Wuppertaler SV).

This is the 30th time that a Schalke player has won the Goal of the Month vote, and the third occasion within the last 12 months.
