The DFL announced the dates and times for matchdays 22 to 27 on Friday (17/12). FC Schalke 04 will play once on a Friday, three times on a Saturday and twice on Sundays during this period.

Darko Churlinov: A tough time comes to an end

Darko Churlinov was in a high spirits after Schalke’s 4-1 win against 1. FC Nürnberg, even joking around with the press afterwards. “Fantastic,” was his reply when asked how he rated his own performance against FCN on Friday evening (10/12). “The whole team deserved to win this game, not just me. No one can win games on their own,” he said. “When the team plays well, then so do I.”

FC Schalke 04 beat 1. FC Nürnberg 4-1 at home on Friday evening (10/12). Thomas Ouwejan, Darko Churlinov and Ko Itakura scored for S04, with Manuel Schäffler also heading in an own goal. The visitors had actually equalised early on in the second half through Fabian Nürnberger.

Dimitrios Grammozis: Darko Churlinov is an option in attack

The Royal Blues are looking for a win against 1. FC Nürnberg in their final home game of 2021 and the final game of the first half of the season when the two sides meet at the VELTINS-Arena on Friday (18:30 CET). FC Schalke 04 lost 2-1 on Saturday evening (4/12) away to league leaders FC St. Pauli. Former S04 man, Guido Burgstaller, bagged two goals in the first half to secure their eighth win from eight home games this season. Rodrigo Zalazar pulled one back with a header with a quarter of an hour to play.

FC St. Pauli and FC Schalke 04 face off on Saturday (20:30 CET), but both will be without their head coaches on the touchline. Dimitrios Grammozis and St. Pauli head coach Timo Schultz have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently isolating at home. This means that assistant coach Sven Piepenbrock will take charge of the team on the Royal Blues’ touchline supported by coach Mike Büskens.
