Government gives the green light for the Bundesliga to restart

Chancellor Angela Merkel and the ministers of the 16 states gave the go-ahead for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 seasons to resume in May on Wednesday (6/5). No football has been played in Germany since mid-March due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

DFL announcement: All games suspended until 30th April

The decision was made during Tuesday morning’s general meeting between the German Football League (DFL) and all Bundesliga clubs, which took place via a video conference, that all matches would be suspended until at least 30th April due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. This is in line with the recommendation of the DFL Presidium a week ago. The decision was announced by the CEO of the DFL, Christian Seifert.

Revierderby postponed at short notice

The upcoming matchdays for both the first and second Bundesliga divisions have been rearranged to a later date, including the Revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 that was originally due to take place on the 14th of March, the DFL says.
