The DFB have given Alexander Nübel a four-match ban after his reckless tackle on Sunday against Frankfurt. The goalkeeper has also been fined €12,000. Both the player and the club have both accepted the decision.

Bastian Oczipka: My teammates in front of me made it easier

Bastian Oczipka had worn the Royal Blue jersey 74 times before Sunday’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt and had played on the left side of Schalke’s defence on each of those 74 occasions. The plan was for him to take up his usual position for his 75th appearance for S04 but after Weston McKennie picked up an early injury, Oczipka joined Ozan Kabak in the centre of defence.

FC Schalke 04 lost on Saturday evening (7/12) after a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. The Knappen were defeated 2-1 in Leverkusen after a brace by Lucas Alario (15’, 81’). Benito Raman pulled one back towards the end, but S04 couldn’t force an equaliser. Both sides now have 25 points each to their name.
