FC Schalke 04 lost on Saturday evening (7/12) after a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. The Knappen were defeated 2-1 in Leverkusen after a brace by Lucas Alario (15’, 81’). Benito Raman pulled one back towards the end, but S04 couldn’t force an equaliser. Both sides now have 25 points each to their name.

After the final whistle against Union Berlin, Alexander Nübel was in a good mood. “If you play and win on Friday, then you have a great weekend,” said the goalkeeper. The game against the promoted side however had been a hard task. “It was the tough game we expected against the team of the moment, who have defeated some high-calibre teams on the first couple matchdays,” explained the 23-year-old.

Late Serdar winner defeats Union 2-1

FC Schalke ended November with a 2-1 home win over Union Berlin on Friday night (29/11). The Royal Blues have therefore taken ten from a possible twelve points this month. Benito Raman opened the scoring (23’), before Marcus Ingvartsen netted a controversial penalty in the 36th minute. Suat Serdar won it late on with just four minutes left to play.
