Domenico Tedesco: A one-off and emotional game

The last home game of the year is coming up and will see Schalke commemorate the closing of the coal mine industry at the same time. The players’ shirts will all have a different name of a coal mine on them for the game against Bayer Leverkusen (19/12, 18:30 CET). There will be a number of miners in attendance at the VELTINS-Arena – and Schalke 04 want to give them a memorable evening, not only by winning three points.

Domenico Tedesco: It was a game of two halves

The Royal Blues had to settle for a point on Saturday (15/12) against Augsburg. Head coach Tedesco and the players were frustrated with the first half performance, but saw a clear improvement in the second half, in which the team could have won the game. schalke04.de has summarised the post-match reactions.

Christian Heidel: Moaning will solve nothing

It would be safe to say that a team couldn’t be any more unlucky with injuries than Schalke right now. Breel Embolo, Mark Uth, Steven Skrzybski and Franco Di Santo were all ruled out of the derby, while Guido Burgstaller had to be taken off in the first half. Cedric Teuchert, the only striker on the bench, is still not 100% fit after his injury and has only trained two or three times.

The 33-year-old analysed the defeat at the press conference alongside BVB chief, Lucien Favre. Goalscorer Daniel Caligiuri and captain Ralf Fährmann also gave their opinions in the mixed zone.
