Domenico Tedesco: Mistakes are allowed, as long as we show intent

The Royal Blues are looking to secure their first Bundesliga win of the season with an attacking mindset in Mönchengladbach on Saturday (15.09., 18:30 CEST). Domenico Tedesco emphasised the strength of his squad, but also warned of the opponent’s own quality.

Matchdays 7-14 timetabled - Saturday afternoon derby.

On Wednesday (05.09.18), the DFL timetabled Bundesliga Matchdays 7-14. Schalke's derby against Dortmund will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 8th December at 15.30 (CET) in the VELTINS-Arena. Schalke will also have five other Saturday matchdays and two Sunday matchdays.

“We’re a positive-thinking team”

Schalke didn’t imagine that their season would start like this. The Royal Blues followed up last weekend’s loss against Wolfsburg with another defeat; this time at home to Hertha Berlin. The team are remaining optimistic however, and are convinced that things will start to look up soon. There’s no reason to panic.

FC Schalke 04 are still waiting for their first win of the Bundesliga season. On Sunday 2nd August, the Royal Blues lost 2-0 to Hertha BSC, with both goals coming from Ondrej Duda.

Domenico Tedesco: Many candidates to start against Berlin

After more than three and a half months, Domenico Tedesco can’t wait for the return of league football to the VELTINS-Arena on Sunday, 2nd September when Schalke face Hertha Berlin (18:00 CEST). “We’re incredibly excited for our first home match of the season” said the head coach. We need to be self critical and put this defeat behind us

Since mid-May the lack of football has meant Schalke fans could spend their Saturday afternoons in pleasant relaxation. However, the summer football drought made Saturday’s Bundesliga opener all the more nerve-wracking. The game against VfL Wolfsburg didn’t bring any points for Schalke, but it did bring up a lot of talking points.

Last-minute defeat after a dramatic match in Wolfsburg

FC Schalke 04 suffered a 2-1 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in their opening Bundesliga match of the season. The match-winning goal was scored by substitute Daniel Ginczek in the fourth minute of added time. The second half was full of plenty of drama, with Matija Nastasic seeing the red card after VAR intervention and Wout Weghorst seeing his red card overturned by VAR in turn.

Wolfsburg’s fortunes must change

For the second year running, Wolfsburg managed to save themselves from relegation - just. The Wolves have greater standards, however. The club has prepared hard for the coming season, both on and off the pitch. Things can only get better from here.

Reunion with Marko Pjaca in Fiorentina friendly

On Saturday (11.08.18) we will be reunited with former player, Marko Pjaca, who joined ACF Fiorentina on loan from Juventus a few days ago and will feature for Fiorentina in Schalke´s final friendly. The World Cup runner-up played for us on loan in the latter part of last season.
