In the friendly against Sevilla on Saturday (26/7), Schalke’s Moussa Sylla hammered home a powerful spot kick to halve the deficit to 2-1. Despite the eventual 4-2 defeat to the Spanish side, he was satisfied with the performance and with the five weeks of pre-season. Looking forward to the start of 2. Bundesliga action, the striker seemed just as determined as he was from 12 yards.

The ‘keeper played the first 45 minutes of the goalless draw against FC Twente. “It felt good to be back between the sticks,” said Karius, who suffered a calf injury in the game away against Fürth 111 days ago.

FC Schalke 04 will wrap up their fourth week of pre-season with two friendlies in the space of 24 hours this weekend. On Saturday (19/07), the Royal Blues will face Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente at the Parkstadion, before travelling to face Westphalian Oberliga club Rot Weiss Ahlen at the Wersestadion the following day. Both matches will kick off at 14:00 CEST.

Sylla strike seals 1-0 win over St. Gallen

A well-earned win rounded off FC Schalke 04’s training camp as the Royal Blues beat Swiss top-flight side FC St. Gallen 1-0 on Saturday (12/07). Moussa Sylla scored the decisive goal in the 32nd minute in front of 1,100 spectators at the Velly Arena in Imst.

Remmert brace not enough – Schalke edged out 3-2 by Wiesbaden

A narrow defeat in the first friendly of the day: FC Schalke 04 were beaten 3-2 by SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday morning (12/07) at the training ground in Neustift. Both goals for the Royal Blues came from Peter Remmert (71’, 87’).

Schalke play out goalless draw with Panathinaikos

On Wednesday (9/7), Schalke drew 0-0 against last year’s runners-up in the Greek Super League, Panathinaikos. Around 1000 spectators at the Silberstadt Arena in Schwaz, most of whom were clad in black and white, watched the Royal Blues carve out some promising opportunities, especially in the first half. Christopher Antwi-Adjei had the best chance of the game, as his header crashed off the bar in the 30th minute of the match.
