Lots to look forward to on virtual Schalke Day 2020

FC Schalke 04 fans can start looking forward to a special Royal Blue weekend: On Saturday, 5 September, S04 are inviting their followers to a virtual season opening. While several club legends have confirmed their attendance, fans and members will also be able to take part interactively and win fantastic prizes. The Schalke Day 2020, presented by main sponsors GAZPROM, will be capped off with a first team friendly against VfL Bochum in front of 300 spectators at the Parkstadion.

The training camp in Längenfeld was like no other for FC Schalke 04. Due to one of the members of the training camp setup testing for positive for Covid-19, the training plan had to be completely changed after three days and a friendly was cancelled too. S04 had originally planned to play three friendlies during their time in Austria.

Second round of Covid-19 testing finds no further infections

Good news from Längenfeld, as the second round of Covid-19 testing has found no further infections in the Schalke setup. Schalke had carried out more tests after a member of the training camp setup had tested positive. That person has been in self-isolation since Sunday (23/8) without symptoms.

No further Covid-19 cases after the first round of testing

Following a positive Covid-19 test in the first-team squad yesterday, FC Schalke 04 have taken all necessary precautions to protect against further infections. The infected individual and the people who came into contact with them went into self-isolation, while the first of three additional rounds of testing has been carried out.

One member of FC Schalke 04’s training camp setup has tested positive for Covid-19. The affected person is currently self-isolating after the test result. Contact tracing is already underway.

David Wagner: We scored some good goals but defended too naively

After the convincing 5-1 victory against VfL Osnabrück in the first friendly of pre-season, FC Schalke 04 again produced a good attacking display in the second friendly on Saturday. In spite of this, four goals were not sufficient to see off SC Verl in the end: “We were all over the place defensively,” summed up David Wagner.

Sevilla thanks S04 for the support and friendship

Sevilla and FC Schalke 04 have faced each other twice on the pitch. The first occasion was in the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 2005/06, and the two sides also met in a friendly last year. A close friendship between the clubs has developed – and Sevilla have now thanked S04 for the strong support over the past few years.

There’s a new signing for the Royal Blues’ social media platforms, as FC Schalke 04 are now on TikTok. The Royal Blues will soon be entertaining their supporters with short, creative video clips featuring the players. Starting an official TikTok account is a strategic step, intended to reach out to Schalke’s younger fans around the globe.

Suat Serdar: Holiday cancelled, training with Werner Leuthard

Despite the high temperatures and the hard work on the pitch, Suat Serdar has not stopped smiling for a minute throughout pre-season training. The reason for his cheerful mood is obvious – the midfielder is finally back with a ball at his feet almost three months after picking up a knee injury against FC Augsburg in May. “I’m free of pain now,” says the midfielder.
