First defeat for Malick Thiaw and the Germany U21s

After winning their opening four U21 European Championship qualifiers, Malick Thiaw and the Germany U21s suffered a 4-0 defeat to Poland on Friday evening (12th November). The game was all but wrapped up after just 15 minutes.

Russia U19s and Yaroslav Mikhailov enjoyed a successful start to their qualification campaign for the next European Championship. In the first of three group games, they won 1-0 away in Greece.

Six Royal Blues away on international duty

As the final international break of the year gets underway, six Royal Blues will be away with their national sides. Blendi Idrizi and Darko Churlinov have both been called up, although only the latter still has hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup. Meanwhile, Ko Itakura will also play two important qualifiers with Japan. Malick Thiaw (U21) and Mehmet Can Aydin (U20) have both been called up by Germany’s youth sides, while Yaroslav Mikhailov will feature for the Russia U19s.

The 21-year-old scored his first international goal in North Macedonia’s 4-0 win over Liechtenstein in a World Cup qualifier. Victor Pálsson drew 1-1 against Armenia with Iceland.

While the Royal Blues were in friendly action on Thursday (7/10) away at VfB Lübeck (2-0 win), Malick Thiaw and Ko Itakura were away with their national sides. Yaroslav Mikhailov also featured a day before for Russia U19s.

World Cup qualifiers: Darko Churlinov’s North Macedonia to face Germany

Six Royal Blues have been selected to play for their national teams during the upcoming international break. Darko Churlinov, Ko Itakura and Victor Pálsson will be taking part in important World Cup qualifiers, whilst Malick Thiaw and Mehmet Can Aydin have been called up for Germany’s national youth teams, and Yaroslav Mikhailov will be involved in a friendly tournament with Russia’s U19s.

Two Royal Blues made appearances for their national teams on Wednesday evening. Pálsson’s Iceland were well-beaten by Germany, whereas North Macedonia with Churlinov earned a draw against Romania.

Malick Thiaw gets goal and assist in Germany U21 win

Malick Thiaw had three reasons to celebrate on Tuesday evening with the Germany U21 national team. Thiaw recorded his second win in as many caps for the U21 side, in addition to providing a goal and assist in his side’s 3-1 win over Latvia.

Mehmet Can Aydin makes second U20 appearance in 1-1 draw with Norway

Schalke’s academy product Mehmet Can Aydin played the full 90 minutes of the Germany U20s 1-1 friendly draw with Norway in Zwickau. This was Aydin’s second cap for the U20s and his 26th in total for the DFB youth teams.
