FC Schalke 04 have parted ways with head coach David Wagner with immediate effect. Assistant coaches Christoph Bühler and Frank Fröhling were also placed on gardening leave on Sunday (27/9).

Nassim Boujellab: I knew straight away it was going top corner

The Knappen won their last official preseason friendly on Saturday with a convincing performance against neighbours VfL Bochum. One day later, the team beat the U23s 4-1 in an internal friendly. Nassim Boujelab scored the first goal of the 3-0 win against Bochum – a delightful strike from the edge of the area.

Experienced striker Vedad Ibisevic has signed a one-year deal at FC Schalke 04 for the coming season. He left Hertha BSC after 2019/20.

Academy product Weston McKennie will leave FC Schalke 04 on 1st September 2020 to sign for Juventus. The midfielder will be initially loaned to the record Italian champions for a season.

Benjamin Stambouli has signed a new contract with the Royal Blues. His initial contract had expired on 30th June 2020, but the Frenchman has now penned a new deal until 2023.

Bernard Tekpetey will join Ludogorets on loan

Bernard Tekpetey will spend two years on loan at Bulgarian giants Ludogorets Razgrad. The previous loan deal with Fortuna Düsseldorf was originally set to last until 2021, but has been cancelled prematurely. Tekpetey’s contract with Schalke is valid until 2023.

Jonas Carls joins Vitória Guimarães on loan

FC Schalke 04 have agreed a loan deal with Vitória Guimarães for Jonas Carls. The left back, who spent the second half of the season playing in the German third division for Viktoria Köln, will join the seventh placed team in Portugal’s top flight for the duration of 2020/2021. His contract with Schalke is until 30 June 2022.
