“The Bremen defeat hasn’t ruined our excitement for this game”

These are the kind of games that Guido Burgstaller and his teammates worked so hard for last year. “We worked our socks off last season to be able to take part in the Champions League,” said the striker. “Therefore we want to be able to enjoy these kinds of evenings”.

With four points from two games so far, Scahlke have made a good start to their Champions League campaign. Guido Burgstaller wants to take more points in Istanbul though. “We’re all really up for the game against Galatasaray,” underlined the Austrian. The most recent Bundesliga defeat against Werder Bremen hasn’t ruined the team’s excitement for the upcoming game against the Turkish champions.

We are all working hard to find our golden touch again in the final third.

“To lose 2-0 to Bremen after winning three straight games was obviously disappointing, especially as the defeat was avoidable,” said Burgstaller. “We had our chances – but we need too many at the moment to score. We are all working hard to find our golden touch again in the final third. Therefore I am certain that we will sort out this problem sooner rather than later,” stated the 29-year-old.

Burgstaller feels that the Royal Blues are well-prepared for the upcoming opponents: “It surprised us all, that Domenico Tedesco played clips from Galatasaray’s games in our last training session in the VELTINS-Arena. We weren’t expecting that at all,” he revealed. “But I think now we have been able to get a good idea of what is to come.”
