Cedric Teuchert: A perfect evening!

Cedric Teuchert made his first competitive appearance in a blue and white jersey on Wednesday (7th February) and celebrated the 1-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg and progression into the DFB-Pokal semi-finals together with his teammates. “It was a perfect evening for me,” says the U21 Germany international, who was brought on in the 76th minute for Marko Pjaca.

The attacker, who joined from FC Nürnberg in the winter break, spoke of an “indescribable feeling” in the VELTINS-Arena after the final whistle. “My first appearance – and then going through to the semi-finals – it’s just phenomenal,” said Teuchert.

The coach said I’d earned my time on the pitch.

The 22-year-old revealed that Domenico Tedesco was happy with his 15-minute appearance. “The coach congratulated me after the game and said he thought I’d played well and he said I’d earned my time on the pitch!” Here’s what Teuchert himself thinks of his first Royal Blue appearance: “I won the ball well a few times, but in the end, it’s not about me – it’s about the team achieving our target. I’m happy and excited for the semi-final.”

The forward gifted the jersey he wore against the Wolves to his mother after the full-time whistle. “She was in the stadium along with my sister and two of my friends and they were all rooting for me,” he revealed.

Teuchert hopes he can make further appearances in the coming weeks. “I’m a young player and want to make the most of every minute. The first few days were difficult, but I think that’s normal when you move from the second tier to a top club – you have some catching up to do. I’m fit and feeling really good, which I hope continues,” he says.
