German handball international Fabian Böhm conducted the draw, which was overseen by DFB-Frauen head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. The tie will take place on 2nd or 3rd April and the exact timings for the match will be announced in due course. The semi-finals will take place on 24th and 25th April before the showpiece event in Berlin on 25th May.

The Royal Blues have reached the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals for the third consecutive season. Last year, Schalke defeated VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 while losing 3-0 to FC Bayern München at this stage the season before. Schalke lost to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at home in last season’s semi-finals.

Werder Bremen have won the DFB-Pokal on six occasions and history between the two sides in this competition favours the Green-Whites. Werder have won five of the previous six meetings between the two sides. However, they haven’t faced each other in the DFB-Pokal since 2005 when the Royal-Blues won on penalties to reach the final in Berlin.
