S04 to face TSG Hoffenheim in DFB-Pokal second round

The Royal Blues’ opposition for the second round of the DFB-Pokal is decided: FC Schalke 04 will travel to TSG Hoffenheim.

The tie will be played on either October 18th or 19th; a kick-off time will be announced in due course. The preceding weekend (October 14th – 16th), S04 will welcome the Baden-Württemberg side to the VELTINS-Arena.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder reacted to the draw: “Hoffenheim have started the season very well and have a lot of quality in their squad. It will be a big challenge, especially because it will be our second game against them in just a few days. We’ll throw everything at them to get points against them in the league, and get past them into the next round of the cup.”

Frank Kramer is really up for the beginning of the new season. After six weeks of pre-season including a training camp in Mittersill and seven friendlies, the new head coach will take charge of his first competitive game on Sunday (31/07). The Royal Blues will take on Bremer SV in the DFB-Pokal. The game against the newly-promoted fourth division side will be played at the Marschweg Stadion in Oldenburg and kick off at 13:00 CEST.

The DFB announced the exact dates and times for the 32 first-round games of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday (15/6). FC Schalke 04 will play Bremer SV on Sunday, 31st July at 13:00 CEST at the Marschweg-Stadion in Oldenburg.
