DFB-Pokal: S04 to host SSV Ulm 1846 in the VELTINS-Arena
The German Football Association (DFB) have accepted a request by SSV Ulm 1846 to forfeit their right to host the DFB-Pokal fixture against FC Schalke 04. The second-round tie with the fourth-division side will thus take place in the VELTINS-Arena on Tuesday 22nd December (18:30 CET).
It will be the second time in this year’s DFB-Pokal that the Royal Blues have been the hosts. After 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 requested that the first round be held in Gelsenkirchen, Manuel Baum’s side won the fixture 4-1. SSV Ulm 1846 got to the second round after beating second-division side FC Erzgebirge Aue 2-0.
When the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is over, Schalke will travel to Ulm’s Donaustadion to play a friendly. “We’re looking forward to visiting Ulm. It made sense to agree to this friendly with the cup game being held in Gelsenkirchen instead,” says Head of Sport Jochen Schneider.
