Frankfurt reached the semis after a 3-0 quarter-final win over 1. FSV Mainz 05, whilst the Royal Blues defeated VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 in the quarter-finals. Previously, Schalke saw off BFC Dynamo, SV Wehen Wiesbaden and 1. FC Köln.
