S04 to travel to SV Drochtersen/Assel in DFB-Pokal first round

David Wagner’s first competitive game in charge of the Royal Blues will take place in Lower Saxony. On Saturday (15/06), the DFB-Pokal first-round draw was made in the German Football Museum, with world champion Nia Künzer drawing the teams.

SV Drochtersen/Assel - FC Schalke 04

The fixture will be played between the 9th and 12th August, with specific dates and times for each game to be confirmed within the next two weeks.

Drochtersen/Assel finished fifth in the Regionalliga North and qualified for the DFB-Pokal as winners of the Lower Saxony Cup, in which third and fourth tier sides take part. In the final, the club overcame third-division SV Meppen in a 1-0 victory.

This season’s fixture will mark the third time Drochtersen/Assel have competed in the DFB-Pokal, after losing to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2016/17 and Bayern Munich the year before. Both scorelines were narrow 1-0 defeats.

Ticket information will be released when available on schalke04.de.
