Friendly against Viktoria Köln cancelled

The game has been cancelled due to the number of missing players from the Schalke squad. After a member of the first-team setup tested positive for Covid-19, he and the other four players from ‘contact group 1’ will stay for an extra few days in Längenfeld, where they will train individually with assistant coach Christoph Bühler.

As well as those five players, a number of S04’s side will be away on international duty. Salif Sané and Omar Mascarell are also both unavailable to play as they are still recovering from injury.

The Royal Blues’ next friendly will be against VfL Bochum on Saturday (5/9) at 15:30 CEST. The game will take place after Schalke day 2020, which will be held digitally this season. Another friendly could still be arranged for the weekend of 5th-6th September.
