Schedule for pre-season friendlies announced

FC Schalke 04 will again travel to Mittersill, Austria for the summer training camp, which will run from 29th June to 10th July 2021. Two friendlies have been arranged during the camp in the Hohe Tauern National Park region, while head coach Dimitrios Grammozis' team will play three more matches in Gelsenkirchen ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The series of friendlies will kick off against PSV Wesel-Lackhausen 1928 e.V. on 23rd June, followed four days later by SF Hamborn 07 on 27th June. The two matches against the Landesliga sides, who are both partner clubs of Schalke 04, will take place at the Parkstadion.

Two friendlies during summer training camp

A pair of friendlies have also been arranged during the summer training camp in Austria. On 3rd July, the Royal Blues will meet Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg in Kufstein. Six days later, another clash against a top club from Eastern Europe is on the agenda as S04 play Ukrainian runners-up Shakhtar Donetsk in Mittersill.

Bringing the series of summer friendlies to a close is the fifth and final test match against Vitesse Arnheim on 16th July. The Dutch side finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season.

It remains to be seen whether the matches will be able to be played in front of spectators. Due to the frequent changes in restrictions to curb the ongoing pandemic, decisions on fan attendance can only be taken at short notice after consultation with relevant health authorities. As soon as any decisions are made, these will be announced on the website as well as on social media channels.
