Simon Terodde: It gives you confidence for the second half of the season

It may have only been a friendly, but Simon Terodde was still a little annoyed by the result afterwards. “It’s frustrating that we conceded to make it 2-2 right at the end,” said the striker. “We really wanted to win. I think that was obvious. We put our opponents under a lot of pressure in the second half and were aggressive.”

The Royal Blues created several chances against FC Zürich, and could have scored more than they did. “It felt good out there on the pitch,” commented the 34-year-old, who was subbed on for the second half. He didn’t need long to add his name to the scoresheet. After Soichiro Kozuki had equalised for Schalke, Terodde headed his side into the lead just minutes later.

We were active inside the opponent’s penalty box. You could see that on my goal as well.

Terodde’s goal began with Florent Mollet, who found Mehmet Can Aydin with a pass. His cross was met in the air by Schalke’s number 9, a move the team had spent time perfecting in training in recent days. “We did well down the wings and were active inside the opponent’s penalty box. You could see that on my goal as well. It was a well-worked goals. Things like that give you confidence for the second half of the season,” said Terodde.
