Amine Harit defends his Player of the Month title

Amine Harit picked up another award this week as Schalke 04 fans voted him Player of the Month for September. The Moroccan international picked up 61% of the votes as the 22-year-old defended his title from the previous month.

In August, Schalke supporters voted Harit their Player of the Month as he picked up almost half of the votes, and the midfield dynamo was able to top that amount with his latest award. For Harit, the award is one of many he’s received since September. Fans and experts on Bundesliga.de, the platform of the German Football League GmbH, voted for him as September’s Player of the Month. Also, viewers of the ARD sports show voted his wonder goal against 1. FSV Mainz 05 as “Goal of the Month”.

Harit beat Suat Serdar (19 percent), Omar Mascarell (14 percent) and Salif Sané (6 percent) in the poll conducted on schalke04.de.

From those who voted for Harit, Schalke 04 fan Nadine Sickmann was chosen. The supporter from Beckom was overjoyed when she was given two grandstand tickets with VIP access for the game against Dortmund. In addition, the 31-year-old had the great honour of meeting Harit after the final whistle and be the first to congratulate him on his personal achievement.

“Amine got my vote because he has done very well for Schalke in recent weeks,” Sickmann said, explaining her choice. “He has contributed with important goals and assists, plays very nice football, and is one of the reasons why Schalke are doing so well at the moment. In addition, he’s instrumental in our attack due to his ability to be a constant source of trouble that the opposing defence must deal with.”

The question now is whether Harit will complete a hat-trick of Player of the Month wins by winning the October edition of the award. The survey starts the week after the Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg, and Schalke partner Hagedorn will give away an attractive prize distributed among all voting participants.
