Bundesliga Home Challenge: S04 beat VfL, Boujellab 'scores' three

FC Schalke 04 beat VfL Wolfsburg in the latest instalment of the "Bundesliga Home Challenge" on Sunday (5.4). Once again, FIFA pro Tim "Tim Latka" Schwartmann and midfielder Nassim Boujellab represented the Royal Blues, running our 5-1 winners.

VfL Wolfsburg (Benedikt Saltzer) 1-2 FC Schalke 04 (Tim Schwartmann)

Tim Latka quickly assumed control in his match against Wolfsburg’s Benedikt „Salz0r“ Saltzer, but struggled to create any clear-cut chances in the early stages. Indeed, it was Wolfsburg who had the first chance in the 23rd minute, combining in the box before converting the opening goal.

With the lead established, Saltzer’s Wolfsburg sat deep in their own half, though they were denied a second before the break by the offside flag.

Latka flew out of the blocks in the second half, levelling straight from the kick-off through Nassim Boujellab – of all players. With “Salz0r” forced to take more risks, space opened up and thus followed more chances. A second goal for Latka – once again through Boujellab – arrived on the hour mark. With the comeback complete, Schalke dominated the rest of the game and could have had two more were it not for the woodwork.

VfL Wolfsburg (Lino Kasten) 0-3 FC Schalke 04 (Nassim Boujellab)

Following the professionals come the players. Nassim Boujellab against Wolfsburg’s Lino Kasten. The 19-year-old goalkeeper was no pushover on the console and Boujellab, who won convincingly in his opening match last week, was forced to show his defensive capabilities early on in the tie. But Nassim soaked up the pressure well and struck clinically in the 23rd minute for the Royal Blues – a reverse of the previous fixture. As in the first game, virtual Boujellab was the star again with a clinical finish. But the Boujellab behind the controller wasn’t satisfied with just a one-goal lead and doubled through Benito Raman shortly before the break (44’).

Lino Kasten tried everything to pull himself back into the game, but Boujellab was giving little away. Burgstaller added a third in 53rd and from then on it was a routine victory for the Royal Blues, who remain defeated in the „Bundesliga Home Challenge“.

Bundesliga Home Challenge

Each team nominated two players for the “Bundesliga Home Challenge” – one from the first team and one other player (esports, influencer or second first team player). All games are played on PlayStation 4 and all players are given the same player rating of “85” to keep things fair. Each game lasts roughly 25 minutes and the score from the two games will be combined as a single result. The “Bundesliga Home Challenge” carries no official sporting value.
