Cedric Teuchert: Every goal gives you confidence

Cedric Teuchert was the match winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Schwarz-Weiß Essen. “Goals are important for every striker,” he said after the game. It was his second strike of pre-season, with his first coming in the 3-1 victory over Hebei Chine Fortune FC. “When you score, it gives you confidence for the upcoming season,” explained the U21 international.

He also admitted, however, that the Royal Blues should have scored more against the side from the Oberliga. “We’re working on it,” he promised, “but we had a tiring week of training in our legs. Everyone’s legs were heavy.” Teuchert also highlighted how important it was for the team to push themselves in Essen. “The coach is watching us closely. No one is taking these games lightly and we still have a couple of games until the season starts to prove ourselves.”

The striker has defined his personal goals for the coming weeks and months: “They’re the same as every other player’s – play a lot of matches and help the team.” Teuchert also mentioned that every individual will be important for the upcoming campaign, as the Royal Blues will be fighting on three fronts: “We’ll be playing a lot games and we want to win as many of them as possible.”
