Further Covid-19 testing: Update on test results

After two cases of Covid-19 were detected in a round of PCR tests carried out on Monday (26/04), FC Schalke 04 carried out a further test among the professional squad on Tuesday. This returned exclusively negative results, including in the two individuals who had previously tested positive (a player as well as a member of the functional team).

It can therefore be assumed that there is a high probability that the first series of tests were produced two false positives.

Team physician and hygiene officer Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger will again contact the Gelsenkirchen Health Department on Wednesday (28th April) to discuss the further procedures, taking into account the protection against infection. Notwithstanding, a renewed rapid and PCR test of the first-team set up has been scheduled in order to ensure the maximum possible safety of all staff and players.

Schalke 04 will, of course, immediately implement all orders issued by the authorities.
