Daniel Caligiuri is March's Player of the Month

Daniel Caligiuri was overjoyed with the announcement that fans had chosen the 30-year-old as their Player of the Month for March. “This is a really nice award,” said the winger, who beat Matija Nastasic, Ralf Fährmann and Naldo to the title.

The official ceremony took place on Saturday 28th April after the home match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Caligiuri was presented the award by Schalke fan Marcel Schlesinger, who was also pleased to receive a signed number 18 shirt and a 100 Euro voucher for the Schalke shop. “It makes me happy to see the fans honouring my performances,” said Caligiuri. He piled on the praise for the team and the coaching staff saying that the squad’s “unity makes the difference.”

Caligiuri was also successful out on the pitch before he received his award after half time as he fired the well-earned equaliser, tying the game up at 1-1 with a penalty. In a few days the voting for Aprils’s Player of the Month will begin.
