Ralf Fährmann is Schalke’s Player of the Month for February

Schalke’s goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann played four matches in February and conceded just one goal. As a result, 52% of fans voted for him as Player of the Month, presented by Hagedorn. Moritz Jenz and Maya Yoshida came second and third in the vote respectively.

Fährmann was presented with his award after the Revierderby on Saturday against BVB (11/3). Stefan Brüggemeyer got the chance to hand him the award. The 55-year-old Schalke fan from Münster was drawn as the lucky one from thousands that voted and was invited to the VELTINS-Arena to give him his award, a framed photo.

“I voted for Ralf Fährmann because he’s an excellent goalkeeper and performs well on the pitch,” said Stefan Brüggemeyer. “I’m really pleased that he’s back in goal for FC Schalke 04 because he fills his roles as goalkeeper and leader brilliantly. I think it’s fantastic that he’s remained loyal to the club during difficult times for himself.”

Stefan Brüggemeyer presented the award together with his daughter, who is also a big fan of Ralf Fährmann. As well as the chance to meet the goalkeeper, the pair were given two VIP tickets to the game and a spot in the car park for the Revierderby. “It was a once-in-a lifetime experience,” added Brüggemeyer.”Ralf is a really pleasant and friendly guy, who loves FC Schalke 04 just like I do. Now having met him, I imagine a number of young football fans see him as a role model.”
