FC Schalke 04 celebrate opening of Chinese office in Shanghai

On Wednesday 20th March, FC Schalke 04 officially opened their new office in Shanghai. Royal Blues chairman for marketing and communication, Alexander Jobst, and head of the Chinese department, Philipp Rütgers, attended the celebrations and helped to cut through the Royal Blue ribbon.

Representatives of several Chinese companies, other Bundesliga clubs and the Chinese football association had met the Schalke delegation the night before the opening to welcome them to Shanghai. Proceedings began with a meeting between the guests before the official opening on Wednesday morning.

Jobst and Rütigers welcomed the guests from economic, political and media backgrounds to the recently furbished royal blue FC Schalke 04 offices.

In a short speech, Rütgers explained: “We are honoured to have been able to open our Chinese offices. It is a wonderful experience for the club and we’re delighted to now play a physical part in the Chinese markets. We are certain of another thing too: The opening of this office is just the start for the club in China.”

FC Schalke 04 has been active in the Chinese market for several years. Now opening our own office here is the logical step for us to continue our successful development in this country.”

Alexander Jobst

The guests and media representatives enjoyed typical German food  at a reception on Wednesday morning hosted by Jobst and Rütgers alongside Senior Director of the Schalke youth academy and development, Peter Knäbel, and other club representatives. Discussions were held regarding the future development of the club in China.

Alexander Jobst was delighted with the opening of the new office in Shanghai: “FC Schalke 04 has been active in the Chinese market for several years. Now opening our own office here is the logical step for us to continue our successful development in this country.”
