Jean-Clair Todibo named as February’s Player of the Month

In a neck-and-neck race, Jean-Clair Todibo narrowly received more votes (36%) than Ahmed Kutucu to win February’s Player of the Month award, presented by Hagedorn.

The Gelsenkirchen native received 33% of the votes – just 3% fewer than Todibo. Benito Raman (16%) and Bastian Oczipka (15%) came third and fourth in the voting respectively.

“I would like to thank all Schalke fans for this award. It’s an honour for me to be named ‘Player of the Month’,” explained Todibo. “I would also like thank them for all the support and confidence they gave me when I first arrived at the club,” said the 20-year-old, who joined S04 on loan from Barcelona at the start of the Rückrunde.

Normally a winner would be chosen from the fans who voted for the award. They would then have been invited to the home game against FC Augsburg (21/3) by club partner Hagedorn, which unfortunately won’t take place due to the spreading of the coronavirus.

Nevertheless, the winner will not go empty handed. Hagedorn will give Cornelia Steppuhn a home shirt signed by all the players instead. The 45-year-old from Delbrück, who has been a member at the club for almost 15 years, was delighted with her prize.
