Jonjoe Kenny: A lot of things are falling into place

After a successful first competitive game of the season in Drochtersen, FC Schalke 04 are looking ahead to their first Bundesliga match on Saturday (17/8, 18:30 CEST) at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Jonjoe Kenny, who arrived at S04 on a loan deal during the summer break, revealed in an interview that he is already looking forward to the matchup at the weekend.

“It’s going to be an unbelievable experience for me this season. I can hardly wait for it to start”, says the right-back a few days before the start of the new Bundesliga season. The team has laid the foundations for a strong performance on Saturday with their intensive training sessions.

Kenny played the full 90 minutes at right-back as Schalke ran out 5-0 winners in the DFB-Pokal game at SV Drochtersen/Assel on Saturday. Head coach David Wagner does not want the 22-year-old to focus solely on his defensive duties. “I need to create more chances for my teammates. That is now a part of my job. I want to do that as much and as well as I can,” says Kenny, who again emphasises how much he is enjoying his time at Schalke: “I am loving the German life. My family is also here and they also like Germany a lot. It’s going really well and I feel at home here.”
