Lots to look forward to on virtual Schalke Day 2020
FC Schalke 04 fans can start looking forward to a special Royal Blue weekend: On Saturday, 5 September, S04 are inviting their followers to a virtual season opening. While several club legends have confirmed their attendance, fans and members will also be able to take part interactively and win fantastic prizes. The Schalke Day 2020, presented by main sponsors GAZPROM, will be capped off with a first team friendly against VfL Bochum in front of 300 spectators at the Parkstadion.
Despite the ongoing corona pandemic, S04 are making every effort to get fans in the mood for the new season. From 12:30 CEST on Saturday, 5 September, followers can tune in on the club’s official YouTube to take part virtually in the exciting activities planned for Schalke Day 2020.
Live interviews with club executives Alexander Jobst and Jochen Schneider are joined on the itinerary by a live Q&A session with former stars Tim Hoogland and Christian Pander, who will also take part in the fans’ VELTINS bottle cap challenge. Fans can ask questions in the YouTube comments section using the hashtag #FragHoogland and #FragPander. Later on, Hoogland will join Jörg Seveneick to commentate the friendly against VfL Bochum, which will kick off at 15:30 CEST in the Parkstadion and can also be followed live on YouTube.
During the half-time break, head of Schalke’s Fan Affairs department, Thomas Kirschner, will be talking about current topics regarding supporters. The break will also include an interview with managing director of S04 premium partner Stölting, Sebastian Mosbacher.
Interviews and initiatives
Stadium announcer Dirk Oberschulte-Beckmann will be joined by club legends Klaus Fischer, Rüdiger Abramczik and Helmut Kremers for a chat. Further interviews over the course of the day will cover topics such as eSports, women’s football, the Schalker market foundation and Schalke hilft! Mathias Schober, sporting director for U8 – U19 will be lending insights into the work being done for youth football at the club. After that, fans can enjoy a penalty shootout challenge with players from the Knappenschmiede academy. Alongside main sponsors VELTINS with their VELTINS Livetalk, premium partners HARFID, bet-at-home and Coca-Cola will be providing entertainment with a jersey-selfie competition.
Naturally, nobody will leave the Schalke Day empty-handed. S04 are offering all viewers the chance to get their favourite current player’s digital autograph. Here’s what you need to do: Simply reply to the opening Tweet about the autograph initiative, which will appear on the official S04 account on Saturday, with the hashtag #MeinS04Autogramm and the name of the desired player. Send your request by 23:59 CEST and the signed card will be sent to you via direct messages. The process may take a few days.
WEEKEND to perform “Eine Liebe”
Royal Blue supporters will also be treated to a real musical highlight. Kit supplier UMBRO proudly present Gelsenkirchen’s very own rapper: WEEKEND, who will be playing “Eine Liebe”, his anthem about club and city, as well as other songs. Speaking of weekend: From the start of the Schalke Day at 12:30 CEST on the Saturday until 23:59 on the Sunday night, the online club shop will be offering a 19.04 percent discount on several products.
