All the info on the Royal Blues in one place: FC Schalke 04 launch new app
As the second half of the season gets underway, FC Schalke 04 are taking a further step towards a digital future with the launch of the club’s new app for smartphones. The app, which has been developed in collaboration with software company 9elements, offers a plethora of new features, while not only providing news from all corners of the Royal Blue universe but putting the S04 members at its heart, too.
Focus has been placed on creating the best-possible user experience. Those who are part of the ‘Vereinsheim’ now have the chance to tailor their home page feed based on personal interests. Furthermore, members can enjoy exclusive news, regular matchday information, and exciting and varied video content, all bundled together in one central location in the club home. That is also the place where digital membership cards and a service area for easily adjusting personal preferences can be found.
Entertainment features such as polls, surveys or prediction games provide further variety. In addition, members have the opportunity to add news items to their personal watchlist, in order to be able to read them offline on their smartphone at a later date.
Our more than 204,000 club members form the heart of FC Schalke 04. With this new app, we hope to show them even more appreciation.
“Our more than 204,000 club members form the heart of FC Schalke 04. With this new app, we hope to show them even more appreciation and create a digital home that combines our close connection, information, and exclusive added value,” said CEO Matthias Tillmann. “With regard to each new feature, on top of our own numerous ideas, we also considered and implemented many requests and suggestions from past members’ meetings.”
Modern design, improved user guidance
There are also myriad new features to be enjoyed by Schalke fans who are not yet club members. The new app’s modern design, improved user guidance and expanded functions make it the key digital companion for all fans of the Knappen. It provides faster access to all the latest Schalke-related news in a modern story format, a completely revamped match centre with exclusive statistics and a comprehensive, visually enhanced live ticker, as well as squad overviews of the first team, the women’s side and the academy’s U23 and U19 teams.
Mobile tickets for home games are also accessible for logged-in users, who can top up their Knappenkarte directly in the app. Information regarding car parks around the VELTINS-Arena, the carpooling programme and an overview of vendors within the stadium are also to be found. All news items are designed to be accessible. The font size can be adjusted to individual preference, and content can also be engaged with via a read-aloud function.
App users can provide feedback
The new app is now available as a free download or update to the previous version in the App Store and from Google Play. It will continue to be developed over the coming months and regularly updated with new features. ‘The app has been planned over the course of more than a year by a cross-departmental team and developed in collaboration with our software company partner. We will continue to work on improvements in consultation with users, and we have integrated a feedback function that allows for immediate responses, especially during the initial period,” explained Marc Siekmann, director of communications at S04.
