Jochen Schneider: A marathon, not a sprint

Schalke’s sporting director is well aware of the skills the new head coach has. “I’m convinced that Christian Gross’ personality, his expertise, his leadership ability and his experience are what’s needed in order to help us reach our goal of staying up,” Jochen Schneider said about the Swiss coach. Eleven years ago, the duo worked together to get VfB Stuttgart out of a similar situation.

Christian Gross: Approaching the challenge with courage and confidence

Christian Gross is taking on his new role as Schalke 04 head coach with plenty of vigour and excitement. “We have five months to successfully complete our mission. I have to take the lead,” said the 66-year-old. “I have lots of energy. The team has to give it everything in the coming weeks and months. Then we will be able to achieve our goal of surviving together.”

First-team player tests positive for Covid-19

A member of FC Schalke 04’s first-team squad tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday (2/11). All other tests came back negative.


Schalke 04 investigates incidents at U19s derby

The derby between the U19s teams of FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (18.10) was marred by abuse directed at Dortmund player Youssoufa Moukoko. S04 apologised to the player after the match and have immediately started a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

On Wednesday (30 Sept), a familiar smiling face entered the press conference room at Schalke, greeting the journalists who had tuned in virtually with a friendly "Glück auf". FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V. recorded a turnover of €102.1 million at group level in the first half of 2020. This represents a significant decrease compared to the same period of the previous year (€151.3 million), which is partly due to the Coronavirus pandemic.


No further COVID-19 cases found in latest tests

There was good news after Friday's (25/9) round of coronavirus tests, with no further cases of COVID-19 found among the first team. FC Schalke 04 carried out this additional round of tests after a player was found to be positive for coronavirus on Thursday (24/9). The affected player remains in self isolation.

More fans permitted to attend Bundesliga matches

Good news for all S04 fans: Germany’s heads of state have agreed on a common spectator limit for Bundesliga games. Until the end of October, clubs will be permitted to open stadiums at 20 percent of the total seated capacity.
