Bernd Schröder: The foundations are solid

With the 2022/23 season having come to a close, FC Schalke 04 have been relegated to Bundesliga 2. In an interview, club CEO Bernd Schröder (57) spoke about the team spirit on and off the pitch, as well as the plans being put into action for the coming weeks and months.

First friendly against SC Spelle-Venhaus – training camp once again in Mittersill

FC Schalke 04 are now able to confirm the key dates for this summer’s pre-season. Thomas Reis’ team will start training ahead of the 2023/24 season on Monday, 26th June at the Parkstadion. An exact start time will be announced in due course.

Tom Krauß and Henning Matriciani nominated for Rookie of the Season

The Bundesliga awards the ‘Rookie of the Month’ to the best young player every month. Tom Krauß has won the award twice this season, with Henning Matriciani picking it up once. The ‘Knappen’ duo are now up for the ‘Rookie of the Season’ award.

Schalke 04 receive licence for the 2023/24 season

The German Football League (DFL) informed clubs about their licencing decisions for the 2023/24 season on Thursday (20/4). FC Schalke 04 have received a licence for both the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga without any special liquidity or other conditions. The DFL have therefore confirmed that the club is fully financed for next season in both divisions.

Marius Bülter wins Player of the Month for March

The fans have voted Marius Bülter as March’s Player of the Month, presented by Hagedorn. The attacker received 69% of the votes, ahead of Henning Matriciani (28%) and Rodrigo Zalazar (3%).

S04 mourn the death of a fan

Saturday’s game against Bayer Leverkusen was overshadowed by a medical emergency in the south stand. Both sets of fans remained quiet out of respect after emergency services treated the fan in question.

S04 expect to be profitable in 2023, regardless of which division the club is in

FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V ended the financial year 2022 with a low double-digit million loss, just as predicted. The main reasons for this were spending last season in the 2. Bundesliga and the final phase of the squad rebuild following relegation in 2021. This should hopefully be the final statement in the coming years with a negative result.

Ralf Fährmann is Schalke’s Player of the Month for February

Schalke’s goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann played four matches in February and conceded just one goal. As a result, 52% of fans voted for him as Player of the Month, presented by Hagedorn. Moritz Jenz and Maya Yoshida came second and third in the vote respectively.

Soichiro Kozuki named Player of the Month for January

The past few weeks have been extremely eventful for winger Soichiro Kozuki. After signing his first professional contract, he went on to make his Bundesliga debut and then scored his first goal in the top flight too. Now, the Japanese youngster has been named as Schalke’s Player of the Month for January with 71% of the votes. Tom Krauß (26%) came second ahead of Cedric Brunner in third (3%).

Orange Day: FC Schalke 04 take part in the International Day against Violence against Women

With the campaign “Orange The World”, the United Nations has been drawing attention to the theme of violence against women since 1991 with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women takes place today on the 25th November. This year, UN Women Germany, are using the slogan “Stop Violence against Women”, and the Royal Blues are taking part in the campaign with their own video.
