New squad photo is complete
DFL Media Day at Schalke: a busy day at the VELTINS-Arena! On Monday (16/7), after Ralf Fährmann and his teammates had finished training, they spent around four hours of the afternoon in the Arena demonstrating their skills on the ball and their showmanship in front of the camera.
First things first: The squad photo for the new season was the Knappen’s first chance to present the new Umbro home kit to the public. The players made no secret of how much they like the jersey and took numerous selfies in their new Royal Blue outfits.
While setting up for the official (provisional) squad photo, there was however a Smartphone ban. Over the next few days and weeks, this photo will be appearing in several newspapers, magazines and websites.

Recordings for TV-partners
The DFL then had the players take each other on in different kinds of challenges and competitions. For example, Yevhen Konoplyanka and Co. had to try and score into some small nets while wearing special disorientating glasses which mixed up left and right.
After the fun and games, the Knappen split up into different groups: Video portraits, action shots and voice recordings for Sky, Eurosport and other international broadcasters, as well as recordings for various premium-partners of FC Schalke 04. The Royal Blue Club Media team also produced numerous clips with Ralf Fährmann and his teammates, which will serve multiple purposes across all of the club’s channels.

The players and the media team really clicked during the making of these clips: The players recorded the formats fantastically and many can hardly wait to see some of the finished products. They’ll need a little patience yet though: the material will be used once competitive football has started for the season.
