No further Covid-19 cases after the first round of testing

Following a positive Covid-19 test in the first-team squad yesterday, FC Schalke 04 have taken all necessary precautions to protect against further infections. The infected individual and the people who came into contact with them went into self-isolation, while the first of three additional rounds of testing has been carried out.

All of the players and staff who have travelled to the training camp have been tested, as well as staff in the team hotel who may have come into contact with the squad. No further infections were detected.

Team doctor and hygiene officer Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger is in contact with the authorities and other relevant parties in Austria in order to discuss and initiate further measures, should they be required. Schalke will, of course, implement all orders of the authorities immediately and completely. The club will also not be providing further information on the infected individual to protect their privacy.

Team training will continue in compliance with all official requirements. In order to reduce possible health risks for the general public, the remaining sessions in Längenfeld will take place without fans. More information about possible friendlies will be released soon.
