PCR test confirms infection – Team voluntarily go into quarantine training camp

One first-team player tested positive for Covid-19 during Monday’s round of rapid tests (19/7). Unfortunately, the results of the PCR tests have confirmed the infection. The person in question, whose rapid test came back negative on Sunday (18/7), will remain in quarantine at home.

The entire first-team setup will enter a voluntary quarantine training camp on Tuesday (20/7) to prevent possible chains of infection and to protect the families of the players and staff. The daily rounds of tests will continue to be carried out as part of the DFL’s hygiene concept, and the strictest measures will be followed to protect everyone involved. Team doctor and hygiene officer Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger is in regular contact with Gelsenkirchen’s health authority regarding future steps. Schalke 04 will follow all instructions given to the club by the authorities.

Friday’s season opener against Hamburger SV is currently not in danger of being postponed. FC Schalke 04 would like to ask everyone to respect the privacy of the player in question.
