Pre-season schedule: Training to get underway at the Parkstadion- first friendly opponent confirmed

36 days after winning the 2. Bundesliga and returning to the top flight, Schalke will begin their preparations for the 2022/23 season. The first training session will take place on Wednesday 22nd June at the Parkstadion. Entry to the session (approx. 11:00 CEST start) is free.


However, the summer break for Danny Latza, Simon Terodde and Co. will come to an end two days before that. On the Monday and the Tuesday, fitness and performance tests will take place internally in order to provide the coaching staff, now led by Frank Kramer, with important information before the start of the new season. The results will be used to see how the players are doing after five weeks without a competitive match.

Friendly against Blau-Weiß Lohne announced

The Royal Blues will play their first friendly on the 29th June, the opponent for which will be announced in due course. The club can confirm, however, that a friendly will take place on 2nd July against Blau-Weiß Lohne at the Heinz-Dettmer-Stadion (15:30 CEST). The fourth division outfit sealed promotion to the Regionalliga last season and also won the Lower Saxony cup. Information on tickets will be released soon.

S04 will compete in two more friendlies (6th and 9th July), before travelling to Mittersill in Austria for a training camp that will take place between 11th-18th July. Two more friendlies will take place during the camp.

After returning from Mittersill, the fans have Schalke Day to look forward to. Details for the season opening on the 24th July will be announced shortly. Another friendly is planned for Friday 22nd July.

Frank Kramer’s first competitive match as Schalke boss will be against Bremer SV in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, which will be played between 29th July – 1st August. The Bundesliga season is due to start the following weekend and the fixtures are set to be published on Friday 17th June.

Potential changes to the schedule and to the dates of the friendlies will be announced on the Schalke website and on the social media channels.
