S04 win KONAMI’s #StayHomeWithPES tournament

Video game developers KONAMI invited a number of top European clubs to take part in an online PES tournament on Sunday – including Schalke, with midfielder Nassim Boujellab representing the Royal Blues. The 20-year-old defeated several international superstars on his way to winning the tournament.

Nassim Boujellab scored six goals across his four games on Sunday evening (26/4), only conceding once. The only opponent to score past him was Odsonne Édouard of Celtic. Boujellab faced him first in the last 16, and actually went behind in the 36th minute. He managed to equalise through Ahmed Kutucu in the second half, before going on to win the tie against the ‘Bhoys’ through Amine Harit in extra time.

Victory against Celtic saw Schalke and Boujellab meet Juventus and Miralem Pjanic in the next round. S04’s midfield man narrowly won 1-0, with the goal coming late on through Ahmed Kutucu (88’).

Another Italian team awaited S04 in the form of Inter Milan in the semi-finals. They were represented by youngster Sebastiano Esposito. Boujellab was once again in control, picking up a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Benito Raman (41’) and Daniel Caligiuri (90’).

Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno was also in great form, as he beat Javi Martinez’s Bayern 4-1 and Antoine Griezmann’s Barcelona 5-1 to qualify for the final. Nevertheless, Boujellab got the better of him too, securing the tournament with a goal from Benito Raman in the 77th minute.
