Salif Sané: I miss being out on the pitch

The Royal Blues paid a heavy price for their 3-2 away win against FC Augsburg on Matchday 10. They won the game, but in Salif Sané, they lost a key player to injury. The Senegalese international unfortunately suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee during the opening stages of the game.

The next day, the 29-year-old had surgery to repair the damage, and since then, Sané has been on the road to recovery. “The rehab is going well, I’ll be back soon,” said the defender, who found there was a silver lining to his injury – he didn’t tear his ACL or MCL.

SchalkeTV accompanied him for a day of rehab. “I’ll be happy when I can finally have the ball at my feet again,” he said. “I miss being out on the pitch and playing football,” Sané continued, adding that he is making considerable progress with his injury and his programme is going well.

It’s unfortunately not yet clear when exactly he’ll be back, but he is working hard every day to make sure that it’s as soon as possible, so he can continue to help his team.
