Schalke first team look forward to seeing fans at training opener

After 51 days without training, there was movement once more at Schalke’s training facilities. On Sunday, Domenico Tedesco’s troops and his team will take part in the team’s first public training session.

At the session will be four of Schalke’s new additions: Omar Mascarell, Suat Serdar, Steven Skrzybski and Mark Uth. Salif Sané and Amine Harit will not participate as they recover from the World Cup. Breel Embolo is still participating in the competition so will not be present as he prepares to take on Sweden in the last 16 on Monday.

Also, Guido Burgstaller and Alessandro Schöpf will not feature after participating in friendlies with Austria in June. They will join after the China tour. Likewise, Matija Nastasic will join up after the tour as he comes back from injury.

Benedikt Höwedes will not take part in Schalke’s first training session or the trip to China as he seeks to sort out his footballing future.

Johannes Geis returns from his loan at Sevilla and will travel to China as will Sascha Riether who has extended his contract at Schalke by 12 months. From the Knappenschmiede, Nassim Boujellab, Lennart Czyborra, Benjamin Goller, Florian Krüger, Jannis Kübler, Ahmed Kutucu and Niklas Wiemann will have the chance to impress with the first team.
