The fans also provided us with incredible support throughout”, recounts the U21 international. The Bundesliga opener in the automobile city has been put behind them. Serdar: “We can’t change the past and now have to press on and work hard. We must learn from the defeat.”

The plethora of occasions the visitors lost possession damaged their performance more than anything. “We made life very hard for ourselves. We need to correct these mistakes and play free-flowing football”, explained the midfielder, who should be proud of the praise he received from his coach after his showing against the Wolves. Nevertheless, he vowed that he “still has a lot more to give” and will no doubt get many a chance to prove himself this season. “It was only the first game. There are plenty more to come. No team can win all of them”, asserted Serdar.

Strength will guide them back to winning ways

With the addition of Sebastian Rudy, the chances of victory in the upcoming games will certainly be higher. “It’s great to have a player like Sebastian on the pitch. He already showed during his first training session how composed he is on the ball”, the 21-year-old lauds about his new teammate. The fact that Rudy also operates in central midfield does not worry Serdar: “Every player will get his chance, given the various competitions we face. Sebastian brings a lot of experience with him and can help us youngsters hugely.”
