United in solidarity and peace

A special matchday with a special motto: FC Schalke 04 and new partner VIVAWEST are making peace the focus of their first home game together. In addition to special lettering on the team’s shirts reading “ToGEther for peace,” the two partners and their respective foundations are also announcing a charitable cooperation.

Sondertrikot FC Schalke 04 - Hansa Rostock

The matchworn shirts from the game against Hansa Rostock will be auctioned off afterwards. Details on when and how bids for the shirts will be accepted will be announced at a later date.

The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the club’s foundation Schalke hilft!, who are actively supporting Gelsenkirchen’s Task Force Ukraine, together with the Vivawest Foundation. Earlier this week, S04 announced it would reach out to the city of Gelsenkirchen in order to help welcome refugees to the city. The club have since been able to gain a strong, supportive partner in VIVAWEST to help support this initiative.

“The Vivawest Foundation has been committed to helping people live together in our neighbourhoods for over 10 years. Integration plays a very important role in coexisting together. We are happy to help Schalke hilft! in order to ensure that refugees from Ukraine quickly become friends and neighbours,” said chairman of the Vivawest Foundation, Uwe Goemann.

The new partnership with VIVAWEST offers us the opportunity to combine the resources of two charitable organisations, ahead of the expected arrival of many refugees from Ukraine.

Sebastian Buntkirchen

Sebastian Buntkirchen, chairman of Schalke hilft! and director of fans and club affairs, is looking forward to this unique partnership. “The new partnership with VIVAWEST offers us the opportunity to combine the resources of two charitable organisations, ahead of the expected arrival of many refugees from Ukraine. The fact that Schalke hilft! and the Vivawest Foundation will be cooperating on this initiative is a great sign with a big impact. We want to help as many people arrive in our city as possible. This cooperation at this particularly challenging time in history means a lot to me.”

S04 will continue to support courageous Schalker who are currently trying to help people in Ukraine. The club are using their social media channels in order to share and spread appeals for donations, aid campaigns and humanitarian measures. It will also be possible to use this network to help connect those who want to help with those already actively assisting on the ground.
